Raid Etiquette Guide!
Joining a raid train is an exciting and fun experience! It gives us the opportunity to establish relationships with new creators and audiences. It is also a wonderful way to collaborate on an event with a possible exponential increase in viewership over time. Let's talk about a few ways to make raiding successful for you whether you are the raider or the person being raided!Use the designated raid call when raiding into the creator in the next time slot during a raid train! It helps people know that you are a part of the event.
If possible, do a little research on the person streaming before your time slot so when they raid in you know how to talk about them and their channel. It goes a long way when you can speak to what the creator who raids into you does and why their content is unique and entertaining. It will also make the raider feel appreciated.When being raided make sure to greet the raider and their community. Ask the raider questions about how their stream went. Possible questions to ask: did they play a game or participate in a different kind of activity? What was their favorite part of their stream? What did they talk about with their community ect? The most important thing is to make sure the raider and community feels welcome.
Give a shout-out to the raider! Let your community know who the raider is and encourage viewers to follow. It makes people feel like you are invested in helping their channel.Take the time to introduce yourself. Share what your channel/content is about and what your stream schedule is. Tell the community that just raided what you are currently doing and give them context to understand what is going on at the moment. Giving the new viewers an understanding of what they are seeing and how they can participate will lead to better engagement and retention. You can even consider making special raid graphics to tell some of the story for you.Acknowledge that sometimes after a raid the raider might need a break. Letting the raider and the raiding community know that you acknowledge their presence but are not obligating them to participate can be a huge relief. After performing for a few hours, the raider may feel tired, need water, need a stretch, and/or to get away from the computer screen.
